FACEBOOK CHALLENGE

We plant a seed for more awareness around exceptionalities and the movement and effort towards more inclusive classrooms and unity everywhere. Every small action waters that seed.

What is the Facebook Challenge??

15 days where each day you do one of the activities in the exceptionality posts.

We will post the daily challenge in our Ashton EA facebook group and direct students to the exceptionality blog post for that day.

There will be one short activity to do which will hopefully draw one's attention to reading and exploring the exceptionality a bit more.

It will be fun and at the end we will celebrate!!

15. Celebrating Diversity Working Towards Unity! :)

Why did we want to add this challenge to our Disability Studies assignment??

We want to be part of the movement and energy towards inspiring more awareness around exceptionalities and the actions towards inclusive classrooms and environments. We want to include others in our on-going learning and passion to promote inclusion, celebrate diversity and the evolution towards unity.

In a world that is currently going crazy with separation, fear, control and judgements in all directions, we felt called to make this more than just an assignment. There is hope!!! All people are wonderful. We all have exceptionalities and a need to feel heard and appreciated for whatever challenges we may have in this lifetime or beyond. If we can promote inclusion in the classroom and model it for our youth, we will create a different future than the one we are living now. The old way of educating was based for one kind of learning style and many have been affected by it. It is time for major changes in all areas of our societies, and we believe people are ready for it. With the development of technologies, not only to better assist people in their learning and work environments but to also understand the brain and how we learn, we can evolve towards a more conscious and inclusive society. The schools are a great place to start practicing inclusion as it calls on adults (parents, teachers, etc) to step up their game, heal their own wounds, explore new ideas and actions to better serve our future generations a different style of education based on inclusion and unity.
